Irony may be defined as “a combination of circumstances or a result that is the opposite of what . . . might be expected.” Jesus’ passion is filled with irony, which includes but isn’t limited to Caiaphas’ unintentional prophesy and the Jewish leaders’ hypocrisy. This year during Lent, we’re going to consider the many ironies that unfolded on Jesus’ journey to the cross, His resurrection, and His rising from the dead.
